The greatest predictor of progress in therapy is the connection between therapist and client. My main goal in our first few sessions is to establish this connection.

Emily’s
Therapy Specialties

Depression, anxiety, relationship distress, communication, life and career transitions, sexual and gender identity, and trauma

Collaboratively, we will work to deepen your understanding of how your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships can be utilized to lessen emotional distress and solidify long-lasting changes in your life.

Finding a therapist and making the decision to start therapy can be an overwhelming process. I will work hard to create an open and safe space where we can begin to build trust and identify your goals. You worked hard to be here and I respect that.

Individuals and couples sometimes find themselves feeling stuck and overwhelmed due to unresolved issues and unhelpful patterns. This can cause relationships to feel repetitive or dissatisfying. You might wonder, ‘why is this happening again?’ Together we will explore your past and present relationships in order to increase your understanding of these dynamics and help you create fulfilling relationships. As your therapist I bring empathy, humor, warmth, and a sincere interest to our work together.

I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporate attachment theory and mindfulness-based interventions into my work. With couples, I rely on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy concepts and the Gottman approach in my work.

I see clients 18 years old and up.
